Dental polishing and cleaning of Dogs teeth

Rating: 0

Can a simple polishing of the dogs teeth smooth the enamel of any small calculus and scraping the scalers have left on the enamel of the dogs tooth? Is there caution that polishing can cause more damage to the tooth from using to much pressure and having the polisher in one area for too long causing heat? If adequately scaling w/scalers and curettes that one can create a smooth surface and a polisher is only for removing non calcified debris not for removing calculus?

Hello and thank you for your question. The answer to all of them is no. The scaler is high pressures H20. H20 does not equal heat.

Further more, the point of doing a "dental" is to prevent further health problems. If you do not clean teeth bacteria builds up and can get into the blood stream causing liver and heart disease. I have seen way too many people choose to get a dental done too late and having to put thier animal down or put their animal on heart meds becuase they did not follow the dr's order.

If you are worried about enamel....consider how long it would take the absence of enamle to cause harm and the absence of a dental to cause harm.
