Sadie won't stop eating wood

Rating: 10

My fiances dog, a female beagle mix that is 11 months old, keeps chewing on tree limbs to the point that it is turning up in her stool and making her sick. Is there a possible reason she craves this or a good way to stop her from doing it?

Any advise would be apreciated

    Hi,

You need to break this habit by placing plastic covers around the bases of all trees in your garden, and keeping her under supervision on walks, or on a lead so she can't do it.

I would also have her teeth checked. She should have all her adult teeth by now, but there can sometimes be retained baby teeth that might cause an irritation and need removing. It is more likely to be behavioral, but this is worth checking.
