Can my dog get hip dysplasia from going up and down the stairs? I was told by her breeder that I need to carry her up and down the stairs for the first year and we reside upstairs at our home.

    Hello,

Hip dyspasia is a multifactorial condition, partly genetic and partly environmental. No dog can develop hip dysplasia just from using stairs - it is to do with genes, exercise and diet. I don't agree with your breeder at all.

Please read this article on hip dysplasia for a concise explanation.

    Thanks
