kidney problem

my cat is going on 17 years of age, he weighs 13.5 lbs, he has CRF and has lost 75% of his kidneys, he needs dental work. what are his chances of surviving anesthesia ?

    Hi

    He is undoubtedly a high risk anaesthetic - it depends on how bad the teeth are. If they are rotten and it is a welfare issue then I would probably take the risk and have the dental. However, I would advise admitting the cat to the hospital 24 hours before the procedure is due to start, for preoperative intravenous fluids.
