my cat is licking his hind legs and has managed to remove some hair in patchs what can i do?

    First, I would rule out fleas.  If he doesn't have those, I would have a urinalysis done on him.  I know this sounds wierd but if you look at his belly, lower groin, above his bladder...I'm wondering if he is licking there too.  If not, I would still have it checked because we do find that cats will do an obsessive compulsive licking of their back legs when they have a UTI.  Plus, he may be working on partially plugging from a UTI or crystals, or even stones.  He would be licking his genitals and then decided that he wanted to start working on his back legs.  Either way, it is something I would have checked out immediately.
