Pregnant Panther ...problem need help?

Rating: 0

my original question was ...It is a florida panther ..who have gestation of 90 days. She normally goes into heat at least 1 a month...but after being in with a male she hasn't gone into heat in over 2 months and there is a distinct bulge in her abdomen. Just yesterday she started catawalin which is the sound they make when in heat. Is it possible to go into heat and still be pregnant, or does this mean there is a problem? Based on answers i have recieved.. Please let me clarify to those vet TECHS like Derek McCoy that i am well aware of the laws that apply to big cats...and for your information as long as you meet the proper permit requirements of Fish and wildlife and usda it is legal in Florida to have them as a pet....for the record i do not condone having them as pets, she isn't my pet i work in a small not-for-proft organization who holds all required permits...our vet happens to be out of town and it is taking longer to get an answer...so while i wait for my boss to talk to him i was trying to answer some of my own questions... THANK YOU

Did you reach your vet? I have not seen cats pregnant in heat. I would guess she is in heat and not pregnant. But only an ultrasound or radiograph will rule out uterine infection or pregnancy. It could be an early abortion. If shes acting ok, probably not an emergency.

Ten years ago I started using nutrition to help resolve many common and chronic ailments, and now dietary/nutrition counseling is part of my treatment. I have a new book, called Dog Dish Diet: Sensible Nutrition for Your Dog's Health and a blog.
