My Italian Greyhound has suddenly developed raised bumps on her back, they are growing and seem to be itchy. This has happened just over the past hour or so. She is nine years old and this has never happened before. I gave her about 15 mg of benadryl, she is about 18 pounds.

Inspect her for fleas and treat if necessary. If not fleas, it may be an allergy. Have you changed her food recently or used a different bath soap on her? Try to eliminate any recent changes in her environment and if there aren't any changes make an appointment with her vet.
