Periodic Seizures

I have a 6 month old kitten I had rescued at four weeks old, she has seizures on rare occasions, she had one in Nov and one just last night. They don't last long and usually in 10-20 minutes she out of her "daze" but I was wondering if her dreams could be causing them. They only happen early in the morning (2:30 am). I know some times animals can just have them sometimes without any serious medical conditions but I feel so bad for her, Is there anything I can do and do you have any insight on why she has them?

Unless they have a genetic defect causing it, seizures which start at a young age are usually caused by epilepsy or similar conditions. It is often more common at night, but we don't really know enough about dreaming in animals to know if it's relevant. Has she had a vet examine her to check there isn't a physical cause for the seizures? If they are occurring more than once a month, anti-seizure treatment is recommended. There isn't much you can do during or after a fit except make sure she doesn't injure herself and keep her quiet and comfortable. Be careful not to get bitten when she is coming out of a seizure.

I have had my vet examine her and says she is fine as responded as you did with the more than once a month recommendation. Thank-you for your quick response. I'll do my best not to get bitten, this is the first time she hissed at her brother (jake) when she was coming out of it. I always hold her since she usually wakes me up with them, that way she doesn't fall off the bed. Thank-you Again Your website is wonderful.
