    Hi,

It is lots of things which can cause itchy rat.

    Parasites- mites, fleas

Contact allergy – for bedding, disinfectants

    Dry skin and dandruff

Diet – food allergies, excess protein, lack of essential fatty acid

Injuries – from long claw, fighting

    Bacterial or fungal infection

Clip your rat’s claw, treat for external parasites, consider your rat diet, change bedding for hypo-allergic (e.g Supreme Carefresh Pet Bedding).

If your pet has a wound, clean them with gentle antiseptic.

If he will still itchy contact your vet for examination.

Don’t wait with the visit also if you rat have lots of wounds or if they look bad, because he will need antibiotic.  .
