Pregnancy in Large cats...Florida Panthers

Rating: 1

It is a florida panther ..who have gestation of 90 days. She normally goes into heat at least 1 a month...but after being in with a male she hasn't gone into heat in over 2 months and there is a distinct bulge in her abdomen. Just yesterday she started catawalin which is the sound they make when in heat. Is it possible to go into heat and still be pregnant, or does this mean there is a problem?

If you own one of these animals then it must be assumed that you work with a large cat rescue organization which would certainly have a specialty vet on speed dial.  Advice for pets which are federally banned to be privately owned may not be given on this site.

Thank you Derek i am aware of the laws, obviously more then you. As long as you meet all the requirements for a permit you are allowed to have them as pets in the state of Florida. I have never condoned them as pets, she is not my pet she is part of an eco-educational organization who helps educate the public on the importance of keeping the wild alive. We hold all the required permits..our vet happens to be out of town and while my boss is trying to get a hold of him i was just trying to get some answers because i am very worried. If you don't have any information about my original question please let an actual vet answer....thank you
