Is it dirt?
Is it in large or small amounts?
Is the dog sick?
Smell it - does it smell like blood? Any chance he could've ingested a toxin?
When tissues die they can turn black but other than that I am stumped. If the dog is acting abnormally and if the discharge has a bad odor or smells like blood- bring him to the vet immediately.
