Is your dog passing a lot of blood in the stool and is the stool normal or is it just specks of blood? If your dog is straining to defecate then he may be popping some blood vessels that are lined in the colon and you will see blood. You can try giving a bland diet of straight chicken without skin and some white rice no salt added for a couple of days. If this gets worse or you think you need to have him seen then please do. Vets can do wonders with bloody stool .
