Our 10 yr old female pitbull has been having a clear, slimey vaginal discharge. What would cause this and should she be seen by the vet?

As Niki has been neutered this is probably harmless. Sometimes it can be a hormonal thing even after neutering, which is the most probable reason for it. Very rarely they can get an infection of the cervical stump years after neutering but it would be thick yellow discharge. It's also possible that the discharge originates from the urinary system, though less likely. If she is well in herself it's not necessary to do anything about it, but keep an eye on it. If the discharge becomes pus-like or includes blood, or she gets sick, she should be seen then.
