Cat: vomitting, weird rash and hair loss. :(

Hi, my cat is an older female cat. She has been vomitting a lot lately and is pretty large and has been that way for awhile, but she has lost a bit of weight. Today she vomitted again, not hairball vomit, clearly a different type. She also had a painful area on her back when petting her and this morning I noticed all the hair has fallen out and I'm pretty sure it wasn't of her own cause, but there is also a black spot and a bunch of red scabs. The area without hair is probably a little smaller than a quarter. Her personality is also somewhat different. SHe is a loving and happy cat, but not very playful and never has been. Lately, while sitting near her, if you move or move the area (like get up from the couch where she is sitting) she meows unhappily, this happens if you try and move her, touch her etc...but she still enjoys being pet.

I'm sorry for the extremely long "question" but I'm worried, we had another cat a few years ago (we got them both in 99 and are from the same litter) who was her sister who died from a disease that I can't remember the name of but it kept filling her lungs with fluid from a sac in her body. It's relatively rare but extremely deadly and genetic in cats. So I worry frequently about the loss of my cats now.

Any idea what could be causing this other than "dry" skin. I found it an odd presentation that the personality change, hair loss, pain and now vomitting are all seperate entities.

I'm not sure if this helps, but she is an indoor cat, we feed them wet food, as well as dry food and in moderation but we live in Baltimore City. Neither cat has ever been out doors. (I have a younger cat too, but she seems pretty healthy.)

Edit: She also has had noisier breathing than normal and has been slightly less active.
Thank you,

Sorry to hear your kitty is feeing well.  Since she is 10 years old I think I would probably have her checked out by a veterinarian and have some geriatric bloodwork done.  The symptoms you describe could be a number of things, but I think you would have peace of mind if you took her in to be checked over.  Good luck!
