pain and swelling to snout

our golden retriever has a swollen snout and it is very sensitive to touch. he cried out when touched.
his gums and teeth look good. what could be the problem?

    If it appeared quite suddenly the most likely cause is a sting, bite or traumatice injury. Swellings can be indicative of growths or infections but you'd expect them to be slower to appear. Providing he is not on any other medication, a small amount of aspirin might reduce the swelling and make him more comfortable. If he isn't back to normal in a day or two, you could take him to the vet then.
