My otherwise gentle cat, Spike, is hiding & growls and hisses at my other cat & his friend, Sam. What could the problem be? Is he sick do you think? I am not aware that he got into anything... I am concerned with Chistmas in two days if he gets really sick I won't be able to get him to a vet due to the holiday.

As they get older some cats just don't want to be bothered by other animals. I don't think it is anything to be concerned about. If it continues to happen very frequently everyday then perhaps you should bring the cat to the vet. But I really think he is just saying leave me alone.
