drinking

i have an older dog 12 yrs she drinks water constantly she gets up every couple of hrs during the night to go outside she either drinks before she goes out or when she comes in should i take her to vet ? the amount of water she drinks is alot its almost like she can't ger enough water i have to call her name just to make her stop drinking i m getting worrirs please help

    I always say this needs to be checked out by your vet especially in an older dog. Excessive urination and drinking of water can be signs of a couple of things such as Diabetes or Kidney disease in which they will drink a lot of water. Your vet will most likely start with an exam and run a blood panel usually there in the clinic so they will have the results for you .Good luck
