Skin COndition

My long haired belgian shepherd has a small (approximately 1/4" around and 1/8" high) knot on her back. It is located on the left side approximately 3" from the centerline and 6 inches forward of her tail. I suspect that it is incidental to flea bites since it came up before I cut her hair and treated for fleas. It has not gone down in about 4 weeks. There is no evidence of it being an infection (no pus or core) but it does seem tender to the touch.

I would clip the area with clippers (electrical clippers ) to get a better view of this swelling, Once you have done this you may be able to see more clearly what exacally is going on. If there is a open wound it may well be that something has penetrated the skin and she has a foreign object under the skin (grass seed for example) they can burrow in strange plasses!

If there is a wound then bathe this in salt water (drawing action) 3-4 times per day.

I would recommend a visit to the local vets as it caould be a allergic reaction to shampoo, even flea bites!

Hope this helps , if you require any more info please replt to this thread
