why does my male cat keep crying at night? he does this every night he is 2 years old and was castrated at 7 mths old he is a house cat and has only been out when he went missing for 2 days about 6 months ago. My other male cat is 10 1/2 months old and also castrated but he doesnt cry like this. the cry sounds like a queen on heat calling for a mate. I know that he is not in any pain. He has free access to fresh water and food and the litter trays are always clean. This is really starting to become a problem now as it goes on for about half an hour to an hour every night.

Cats tend to be more active around dawn and dusk when all the little mice are active so cats tend to want to go out during these periods to hunt and secure territories etc. Perhaps your cat is getting a bit frustrated that he can't go out and leave his marks (urine/scratches) and is making sure that the other neighbouring cats can hear that he is around since he can't leave his marks.

Why don't you try and increase his internal space by adding more areas to jump up on to, toys to hunt etc or even build him a cat extension so he can get out without  getting lost so he can survey all he owns.

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
