Bruiser has a swollen eye

Hello,

It looks like my 5 month old boxer was stung by something earlier today. Around 11AM my son noticed that his eye was starting to swell. I was at a soccer tournament and instructed my son to give the dog 2 Benedryl tablets. I have been trying to call the emergency animal number for the last 30 minutes and have had no success in getting in contact with a human being. It looks like the other eye is a little swollen as well. What should I do? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hi there

It does sound like he has got an allergic reaction to something. Did the Benedryl tablets help at all? I would keep a close eye on him, what is worrying when having an allergic reaction is that his throat may swell which could cause breathing difficulties. If this happens it is a real emergency, and you need to keep trying the emergency number (maybe there are others in the area you could try?)

Remember that it does takes some time from you give the tablets until you can see any changes, at least 4 hours. How many mg did you give?

Good luck, and I hope he will get better.
