Hello there. Anaemia is a clinical finding, not a diagnosis....ie it happens secondary to some other disease process.  Anaemia refers to inadequate red blood cells in the circulation and the most common clinical sign is lethargy/weakness.  This can be due to inadequate production of red blood cells by the bone barrow, loss of red blood cells from the circulation (bleeding internally or externally) or destruction of red blood cells within the circulation by the immune system.  I would reccomend having him investigated for the cause of the anaemia, as this cause needs to be addressed before the anaemia resolves.  Dogs who are on a normal dog food diet do not tend to get anaemia due to inadequate iron in the diet, like humans do.  If he has been showing signs for a long time, there may be something more sinister going on, like the presence of a tumour.  However, something simple like a heavy flea burden can cause anaemia. Sorry about the long-winded answer and please let me know if you have any more questions!!
