I would try feeding him on a bland diet such as chicken or rice when this happens , does he have any dirrohea or vomiting when this happens. It can be a number of reasons

1 / Stress can sometimes cause gastrointestinal upset

2/ IBS (irratable bowel syndrome can occur in dogs.

3/ I would probally recommend a visit to your local vets for some routine blood testing just to rule any illness that can occur with old age.

How much are you feeding him and what are you feeding him make sure that you are feeding him the correct amount of a high quality food, I could be a sinple as he is hungry! And you are feedinbg him too little, but overfeeding can cause this problem aswell.

Stomach or abdomen noises can be a sign that there is a gastronintestianl problem , in the mean time please take note when these noises occur (eg. before or after food etcc.) this info will be helpful to the veterinary surgeon if you decide to take him , i would recommned a health check just to rule out any major problems.

    Hope this helps
