I have a 7 month old shih tzu she has a umbilical hernier and has no other medical problems but my vet is pushing me to have her spayed but she has not had her first season yet. Will this change her coat? or temerprement

Hi,
Sterilisation is usually recommended before first heat, because this decrease risk of cancer in the future.
e.g The risk of mammary tumour is 0.5% for bitches spayed before their estrus, 8% for this spayed after one estrus and 26% for bitches spayed after two or more cycles.
Sometimes this can change her temperament. She can be calmer and less playful (but not always).
Spayed dogs can also easy gain weight, because of this you should put her on proper diet and offer her lots of exercises.
I thing that it is good idea spayed her now.
