papilloma virus

Rating: 8

My vet told us that the new bump on Heidi's lip is from the papilloma virus. He offered no advice on how to prevent more outbreaks, if possible. I could call the vet back, but I'm looking for other opinions. The vet said it is common to emerge in midlife, while another source said it is a "puppy" virus from a weak immune...? She has always seemed very healthy. Anything that will help?

There isn't really anything you can do- they are harmless and there isn't any preventative measures other than general good health. They rarely cause any problems to the animal, but if they do they can be removed.
