My cat has suddenly a red eye. It's been like that for half an hour. She was fine before that. What does that mean? I am very scared.

Hi there, could you possibly submit a picture? Is the eyeball itself red or is it the conjunctiva (the pink tissue surrounding the eye) Is it both eyes?

I attached the picture. She was a little bit sleepy, now she's eating. The eye is not that red but the colour is definitely changed and it's different fro mthe other one. The other eye is fine.

After I took the photos I noticed that her eye is watery and she doesn't want to keep it open... So I suppose that symptoms evolved.

There doesnt appear to be any obvious inflamation or damage to the eye although without a thorough clinical exam I cannot rule this out. If the eye is excessively watering or seems painful I would certainly recommend a check with your veterinarian. Changes in the coloration of the cornea or the conjunctiva would be reason enough to get the eye checked by your vet. Better to be safe than sorry and will also give you peace of mind. If you cannot get to the vet right now just ensure that she cannot scratch or rub her eye. Possibly buy an e-collar from a pet store

I used this service because it's very late here and I can't go to a vet. I noticed her eye and got scared...what if she goes blind?! I'll probably go to the vet tomorrow. Thank you for your answer.

The most likely cause of the watery eye is a small amount of debris or hair that has landed there. If she will tolerate it, gentle bathe the eye with soaked cotton. please get her checked tomorrow if the eye is no better. If you are very concerned perhaps see a local emergency veterinarian. hope that helps.
