My cat is sick! He has been sneezing, and his eyes are red, puffy and watery. I can't afford to take him to the vet. What should I do?

What you are describing sounds, to me, like an upper respiratory infection. Sometimes, this could be caused by something more serious such as Feline Immuno Deficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukemia (FeLV), especially if he goes outdoors. Typically, upper respiratory infections in cats are bacterial, as well as viral, and need to be treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, antibiotics are available by prescription only and you would need to see a veterinarian to get them. I would also recommend getting him tested for FIV and FeLV as well as making sure all of his vaccines are up to date. Until you can get him to a vet, monitor his food and water intake. Keep him indoors and rested. If he starts to drink less, or if his symptoms get worse, try him to a veterinarian quicker. Sometimes family or friends are able to help with vet costs in that type of situation. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, you may contact me or a veterinarian.
