Puppies usually get worms from their mothers while nursing. Adult dogs get worms from fecal/oral contamination (except for tapeworms that usually come from eating a flea)

Ok, now my female puppy has worms and she has been dewormed a lot of times. And I don't understand why. She doesn't have any fleas. The only dogs who have fleas are the outside dogs. We have 6 dogs 3 outside 3 inside. We had 7 but ine of the females passed away this morning. She was sick for 2 days and I told my brother that he needed to take her to the vet and he didn't listen. We discovered her dead this morning when my future husband went to go and feed the dogs.

So sorry to hear bout your dog dying :(
What do the worms look like? Most dewormers don't take care of tapeworms. A dog can get these by eating just one flea, so it's possible that your female puppy ate a flea even though she doesn't have them now. Also, what dewormer are you using? The most common one is Pyrantel, but it doesn't get tapeworms.
good luck!

They are like a white-cream color. I don't know what kind we gave them. But theyworked for the other puppies. But let me get back at you with with that info. I'm not at home at this moment.

OK. If the worms are flat, they're probably tapeworms. When they dry up they look sort of like sesame seeds. Roundworms are spaghetti-like.

They are round. The stuff we give them is the Heart's Ridworm. My mom just told me what is was.

I don't know about Hartz's Ridworm. It will probably just kill roundworms (which do look like spaghetti).

Well she has tapeworms. I don't know what to give her. What should I give her or should I take her to the vet?

There is one over-the-counter medication for tapeworms (believe it's called Cestex?) If you can't find it, you may be able to call your vet & tell them what you're seeing... maybe they will let you get the dewormer without taking her in. Make sure you keep her on her heartworm prevention (monthly).

I got a total different question. I'm hoping you can help me. I had my female dog now for about 8 months or so and she won't go potty on the puppy pad. I mean she does but then it seems like she forgets about it. And if she don't start on the puppy pad I have to get rid of her and I don't want to.

Have to tried crate training? If you have a crate big enough you can try leaving her in her crate anytime you're not around. Then, as soon as you get home take her outside or to the puppy pad (I always think it's better to take your puppy outside - it's kind of confusining using the puppy pads). Reward her if she goes in the right place. Positive reinforcement works better than scolding. If she does go on the floor immediately take her outside - reward her if she then goes to the bathroom outside. If you don't have a crate big enough, you can use a small room with no carpet, like a bathroom. Dogs don't usually want to go to the bathroom where they have to sleep - that's why the area you use needs to be pretty small.

Well, she is in the crate as I'm typing to you. She is kinda getting the point about outside. I bring treats outside with me. Since we have another puppy, he goes outside and we give him a treat. I'm hoping she will get the idea if she goes outside I will give her a treat. But so far she is doing really good. I put her in a crate at night and in the morning she goes outside. We are also watching how much she eats and how long it takes to go through her little body.

Yea I know. But anyways I lost my cat today. My step brother's dog killed her. So he got rid of him. I don't know what he did. He don't want to talk about it.

I'm trying to get over her but its kinda hard. That picture of me and the little kitten, the kitten is her. That picture is when I first got her. I'm looking for a kitten like her. She is going to miss Valentine's Day. For her 1st birthday she got catnip and a collar. She only got catnip when she was good or did something good. So if you find anyone who's cat had kittens and looksl ike her please let me know. I put her collar around my wrist so she can be with me always.

hi - for some reason my computer won't show her picture. What color was she? You may want to check the shelters - they have lots of kittens & cats that desperately need a home. I cry every time I see that commercial for the ASPCA with the homeless animals :(
