Rimadyl is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used for pain and inflammation. It is for dogs only. It is used a lot in vet clinics and can be used short term or long term. If using long term it is recommended that your vet run some blood work before sending home. The blood work checks the kidney and liver functions to make sure that it is safe to use it then if okay they send it home and they will monitor the bloodwork about every 6 months thereafter. Most commonly used for pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, postoperative pain due to soft tissue surgeries and orthopedic surgeries. Hope this helps. Please rate this answer. AMY
