Cat vaccine reaction???

I just adopted an adult female tortie kitty. My other cat at home is used to strange cats/kittens coming in, (we foster for a rescue) and the most she ever does is his and run away if they pester her. I've been home since I brought the new kitty home, and either she or my other cat have been with me at all times. I was sitting on the sofa with my newly adopted girl, when noticed she had a swollen lump by her right hip. Its warm to the touch, and it appears to have been a little over-groomed, so I think she's been messing with it. It feels as though its filled with fluid, kind of squishy, not unlike a hernia. Its about 2in x 2in. Since noticing this, I have also noticed that she bunny hops up stairs, and favors her right leg going down, so it is obviously painful to her. I called the rescue, and she was vaccinated Nov 7th. I know the rabies is always given in the R hip. Could this be a vax reaction???

It sounds like yes it maybe an abscess from the vaccine. Unfortunatly you need to take her to the vet so they can clip and clean the area, lance the abscess and drain it, then they will have to flush it out then maybe put her on a course antibiotics. Hope this helps. Please rate this answer. AMY
