Yes, the needle can cause swelling, redness, and bruising in the area of the aspiration. Some tumor types are particulary prone to swelling. An infection at the aspiration site is also possible. Bacteria can be pushed into the skin and under it as the needle is passed to aspirate the mass. Your veterinarain should be informed about the swelling and how quickly you noticed it after the procedure. Hope this is helpful.
