Acl

Rating: 0

I have a 7 year old lab/chow mix male dog. In 06 he had torn his left knee ligaments {Acl}. He had surgery and has been fine. On 11/26/08 he hurt the other leg. He is on Rimadyl 75mg twice a day and had X-rays done on 12/2/08. Our Vet said the x-rays looked good as in hips and arthritis. I asked how they know the Ligaments is totally torn and was told that when he was under anesthesia she could feel that it was. My questions are without surgery can he lead a normal as can be life and is there another pain drug that can be used? He has been on Glucosamine for the past few years and is still taking that?

Well without surgery the leg is very painful and will continue to get worse until surgery is done. I know it is expensive, but you could always get a second opinion from the surgieon that will do the surgery. I hope everything goes well. Please rate this answer. AMY
