Normally ferrets are given a distemper vaccine that is made especially for ferrets, and a 3 year rabies vaccine. The vaccines are usually not an issue, but there is always a risk of a reaction. Some ferret owners prefer to have vcaccines done individually. I.E. The distemper one week, and the rabies the next, instead of on the same day. Neutering is usually pretty straight forward as well, make sure you choose a veterinarian with experience with ferrets and ferret surgeries. Most ferrets sold today are already neutered or spayed. Did you get Jamal at a pet store? If so, you should contact them, he is probably already neutered. Recovery is pretty quick, and there are usually no issues. Make suere you talk with your veterinarian first and find out all the details and their experince with ferrets.
Thank you and good luck with Jamal
