Salem is 6+/- long hair adopted cat. He quit eating about a week ago, hacked up a huge hairball, barfs on the floor almost daily. He has started eating soft food now, but has a naked patch at the base of his tail. Shedding a lot and lost weight. He never had any balance, falls on his side or back from window, chair, etc. Owner is 9 yr grandson. I got cats shots in Jan '07 don't think he got them for 08. Help, I'm not a cat person and not much money

It is a very serious issue when cats stop eating. Unfortunatly the cat needs to go to the vet.
