Approx. 3-5 times a month my dog gets sick in the early morning 3-6am. He has no other issues. Energy is good, acts normal, poop is normal. He wants to eat on his schedule even after getting sick. He only eats dog food, no people food.
His vomit is usually clear stomach fluid. I don't see him eat any plants or other garbage.
He is not sick any other time in the day.
Any thoughts???

This level of vomiting (around once a week) doesn't usually merit a diagnostic work-up. It is highly likely that if your dog had abdominal xrays and full blood tests, they would all come back normal. The vomiting may stop if you gave daily antacids such as cimetidine or ranitidine, but I would question whether it was worth the expense and hassle for this amount of vomiting in an otherwise healthy dog.
