My cat is about 16 years old. He is doing something odd now, he walks around in circles stops and stares at the floor. His appetite has changed and he has lost some weight. What I can't figure out is his walking in circles and staring.

He could be have a neurological problem or he could have lost his eye sight due to his age. Make sure he continues to eat when a cat stops eating it is very critical and could be very deadly. Give him some canned food if you have to to help his appetite. As far as the circles and staring I would probably make an appointment with my vet for those issues.
