growth plate fracture

How long should it take a minor growth plate fracture(back left rear) to heal?? Our vet has prescribed 4 1/2 weeks on "crate" rest, and no casting. She is 3 1/2 weeks into it, with great results so far.. Although today she darted out of her crate and jumped on the hurt leg, held it up for a minute or two (no crying) then seemed fine... Do you think she may have re-injured it, or that it is just sore? (she has been walking to go potty and that's it!) Should we re xray? Also, does not casting it, and the time frame they have given us seem reasonable?

Symptoms: Lameness

Usually they advise 6 weeks rest, and then moderate exercise after this. She may have just 'jarred' the leg today causing some discomfort, if she is walking ok on it with not further discomfort the everything shoulf be healing as it should. Casting is difficult if they are still a puppy as their growth would mean continually changing the cast which would not aid the healing process at all. and would cause more aggravation and also potential sores within the cast its self.

I would carry on as you are with the cage rest, if you are still worried that she hads hurt herself today or still concerned then it would be best to get her checked over.
