Vaccinations

How often should Oliver get a physical exam? He's healthy.
He currently gets vaccinated every 6 months for Bordetella & annually for Parvo & Adeno/Lepto/Parainfluenza. Rabies every 3 years. Is that schedule too often?
What is the best preventative for Heartworm, Fleas & Ticks? Is an all in one best?
He currently takes Heartgard Plus monthly & nothing for Fleas & Ticks since he's never had any. He spends 90% in the house. & rarely gets boarded.
Thank you

The current protocol at the practice I work in is very similar to what you describe - yearly exam with yearly vaccination for distemper/parainfluenza/hepatitis/parvo/leptospirosis, rabies every 3 years.  Bordetella yearly if the animal boards or goes to dog parks.  Soon the vaccination schedule will change as 3-yearly distemper/parvo/hep vaccines become more prevalent, but that is what it is for now.

Heartgard Plus is fine for heartworms, but like you said, does nothing for fleas and ticks.  If you are happy going without the flea/tick preventative, then you are doing just fine.  If you want to add flea/tick prevention, you can use frontline plus or K9 advantix.  If you wanted an all-in-one, you'd need to consider Revolution topical application.  There are others, like Advantage Multi, but this does not cover tick prevention.

    Hope this helps!
