It certainly does sound like your dog may have arthritis, especially considering her age and breed. Aspirin used to be used quite commonly before the advent of newer drugs like Rimadyl, Deramaxx, Metacam, etc. Now, its use is frowned upon for long-term cases like Picaboo - it can cause gastrointestinal ulceration and perforation, as well as affect the kidneys adversely. I therefore would not recommend it at all - the newer drugs have much fewer side-effects, especially when monitoring blood parameters periodically during use (which most vets will advise). I would recommend going to your vet to try one of these products rather than aspirin. Also, you could try over the counter Glucosamine/Chodroitin (for Picaboo, give the recommended human dose on the bottle) and Fish Oil for joint support. Also, try to get her to lose some weight - the thinner they are, the better they cope with arthritis! Good luck!
