I would like to know if it's normal for a puppy this age to urinate very small amounts throughout the day instead of just a few like and older dog. We trying to housebreak him and getting frustrated cause we only pen him up in the house in the evenings but throughout the day he piddles a little here and a little there and we can't catch him.

If you are worried about his health make sure you get him checked by your vet. He will need his vaccinations and check up anyway. However, it is normal for puppies to produce small amounts of urine often as they only have little bladders. Just keep popping him outside every hour or so especially when he starting sniffing about. Don’t make a big fuss the association between the substrate he goes on and the relief of urinating is reward in its self and toilet training will happen in time. If you begin to get cross with him he will start to do it when you are not looking. Just remain calm, if he begins to urinate, pick him up and put him where you want him to go. If this is paper or training pads  begin to move these over time closer and closer to the door.

    All the best

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
