First off, age is not a disease. He should be examined by a vet as soon as possible to determine whats causing his various problems. Lethargy, weight loss and increased thirst and urination may be caused by diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or kidney disease, as well as a host of other possibilities. Irregardless of the cause of his symptoms it sounds like he genuinely needs veterinary care. Do the right thing for him and take him to the vet as soon as possible.

So take him to the vet. Just because he's 22 doesnt mean he deserves to die slowly in agony. Either allow your vet to treat him or at least have the compassion to have him humanely euthanized. Allowing him to suffer and die slowly simply because you feel he's too old to be treated is both cruel and inhumane.

Ya, I know today he is burried in my backyard after being "humanly youthanized".
