Runny eyes

My cat has runny eyes with a thick discharge that gathers around the edges. It started in one eye a couple of weeks ago and has now spread to the other. It also appears that when she looks into a light that her eyes are somewhat cloudy. Is there anything serious to worry about ? We have been wiping them with a warm moist towel, but they don't seem to getting any better. Any suggestions ?

She really should see your vet. The cloudiness worries me a little as this could be the start of a corneal ulcer, edema  or inflammation, or even deeper inflammation within the eye. As the eyes haven't got better with cleaning them then I would suspect an underlying infection going on too, so she would be best off to get your vet to check her over. Good luck
