Coughing

Our dog recently went into be neutered and has now developed a cough and congestion. What should we do? He still eats and drinks ok.

Symptoms: Breathing, Coughing

    Hi there,

    It sounds like he may have been a bit irritated by the tube that they put into your dogs throat - during the operation, to maintain anaesthesia.

    It is good that he is eating a drinking this shows that he is not feeling too bad about things!

    You can give dogs benylin cough syrup if the cough persists, but i expect that the cough should clear up within a few days. Obviously if the cough stays then i would take him back to your vets as he may have picked up an infection whist kennelled during the day.
