my nuetered male dog got to a female dog in heat. for the past 24 hours he has had a full "erection" and appears to be in pain. i have tried lubricating the area as well as applying a wet compress. neither have worked. my vet wants him to be seen but they are not availble until next week. is there anything i can do to get the swelling down? is there an anti inflamitory i can buy over-the-counter?

This is a problem that needs to be seen now!!!! there is nothing you can do at home apart from making sure that it stays lubricated. If your vet wont give you an appointment yet thinks he should be seen ( which I think he should be seen too) then take him elsewhere. I would even take him to the emergency clinic for assistance tonight. Sometimes they need a sedative to help everything relax along with antiinflammatories to help it go back in. Is he able to urinate Ok?
