how can you tell if a dog is depressed. Ebony seems to be a little off her game and I am wondering if it could be because our other dog Skylar passed away about three weeks ago. What are the symtoms of a dog being depressed?

    Hi

There is no treatment for depression in dogs, it can't be proven so we don't know whether it exists or not. Anyhow, there are no licensed treatments for it.

My advice would be to make sure your dog doesn't have any medical problems (eg check her rectal temperature, if she has a fever she will be lethargic and this may be mistaken for depression) and if all is OK, try a DAP (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) diffuser. You can order these online of ask your vet, and they sometimes help in the short term with these sorts of behavioral issues.
