I have an 8 yrs old male yorkie who has not eaten for atleast 2 days and I have to carry him over to the water and make him drink. He is also having problems walking with his back legs. What does this sound like? Do you think he is renal failure?

Hi, The two problems are probably unrelated. Anorexia is a symptom of numerous diseases, so without a more detailed history or an examination, I cannot speculate on what could be causing this. It would be interesting to know if he has a fever (you could stick a thermometer up his rectum to measure this). If it is above 102F then he probably has an infection somewhere. The problems walking could be arthritis, dislocating patellas....to be honest, you ought to take him to the vet as there aren't home remedies that are suitable. You can syringe water into his mouth to ensure he doesn't get dehydrated, and tempt him to eat as best you can in the interim.
