Growth on the nose

About two months ago, my dog had a tiny white spot on his all black nose. since then, the spot has grown to approx. 1/8 inch in diameter. It did not appear to be an injury, and it doesn't seem to hurt or bother him. At first it just looked like he lost the pigment on the spot, but over the last week or so it appears to be slightly elevated from the rest of his nose, and sometimes has a pinkish or reddish coloration. He has seen a vet twice since he has had it (for shots and boosters), but the vet is new because his old vet moved away, and he doesn't seem to be concerned. I am concerned because of how rapidly this thing grew, and now it seems to be changing. Should I take my dog to another vet for a second opinion, or does this sound like a normal type of growth?

With all growths the only way to be sure what they are is to send a sample to the lab. It is more likely to be benign than not, but 2 months is a relatively short time to have appeared and grown elevated from the skin so i wouldn't be able to say definitely don't do anything about it. In these circumstances i usually ask the owner to make an informed decision according to how they feel- if it's concerning you, it is worth following up. Perhaps if another vet saw it and thought it was nothing to worry about it might give you some peace of mind? Good luck!
