What would cause an otherwise healthy cat to randomly howl at inanimate objects? He will sit in front of walls, the washer and dryer, the corner of the bathroom, etc. and howl at it.

Do you respond to his howling? It might be an attention seeking behaviour where he gets your attention/fuss/food for doing so. The simplest thing is to just ignore it. Or he might be hearing something you can't for instance it might be emitting a high pitched sound that he might be confusing with mouse? There are also certain medical conditions that may cause this behaviour so get him checked out by your vet. If this behaviour becomes obsessive you might want to seek advice from a qualified behaviourist regarding obsessive compulsives behaviour. If not get your local physic round to get rid of any ghosts you might have. Rosie Barclay

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
