Is this a sudden change? How long ago did you use the flea medication? It's possible to have an adverse reaction but it also sounds like he could be ill for another reason as the symptoms are a bit unspecific.

yes, it's a sudden change. he's usually been very active, now he just wants to sit. i took him on a walk and he would walk and then lie on the ground and not want to get up. he doesn't whine or wince when i touch him. he just decides he's going to lie there until i pull him up.

Did this happen immediately after using the flea meds? I'm trying to get an idea of whether the 2 events are connected. Either way, i think it sounds quite serious and if you can get him physically examined by a vet it would be useful. Let me know how you get on..

well, called vet and she said it was his anal glands. brought him in , they milked him and he's recovered remarkably! any way i can prevent this?

Glad you got it sorted! Some people believe more fibre in the diet can help, but some dogs are prone to it. You can learn to empty them yourself- it's not much fun, but it's quite easy..
