I am concerned that my schnauzer may have something more than minor. he has not kept any food down for more than 5 minutes for the last 3 days.

Definitely get your dog checked by your vet tomorrow, don't let this go on much longer. He needs a thorough physical exam and most likely some further tests ( bloods, and xrays and possibly a barium study), there are many reasons for the symptoms you are seeing.... gastrointestinal foreign body, bacterial imbalance, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis inflammation, infection, tumors, hormonal disorders are just a few possibilities Good luck
