food poison?

Rating: 8

Our neighbor threw some sort of stew/chilli into our yard. Our 10 year old keeshond was able to gulp it down and he threw up three times that night. The next day he lost control of his bowels. Today he is lethargic, tender above his back near his tail, has a yellow discharge from his bowel area and urinary area. Is it food poisoning or something else?

Symptoms: Pain, Vomiting, Diarrhea

Hi there It sounds like he has eating something that has irritated the lining of the intestines, causing these symptoms. He could also have aquired a gastroenteritis if the food he ate had gone off. I think that you should take him to the vets as he is lethargic, he may need some antibiotic, probiotic and fibre supplement and will need to be put on a bland diet for a while to calm down his bowels. Hope he will be ok Torunn Beurling DrMedVet
